Skygazing

Bring your family and friends to see the stars, planets, the moon and more! Talcott's astronomers will fascinate you with the stories and mythological lore of the night sky. From our mountaintop vantage point comes an unobstructed view of the celestial sphere. Our planetarium is the largest of its kind in Connecticut where you can view the present or journey back in time. With Talcott's vast array of telescopes, you can peer deep into the past as you view distant planets, stars and galaxies that may be thousands of light-years away.

Viewings will be planned around upcoming celestial phenomena such as meteor showers, comets, eclipses and conjunctions of the planets. All scheduled events are subject to change due to inclement weather.

SCHEDULE A PRIVATE VIEWING:

Have a special occasion coming up? Looking for a fun night out with friends or colleagues? Call us to schedule a private viewing night for your group! Private Skygazing events are perfect for scout and youth groups, too. Email Christine or call 860-677-8571 for more information.

CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19:

All Skygazing events are RSVP only and must be paid in advance. We strongly suggest masks be worn while indoors for the planetarium program. Because our events are dependent upon clear skies-- and New England weather is notoriously unpredictable--programs may be announced with only one or two days' notice. If the weather is not conducive to viewing on a scheduled Skygazing night, all registered participants will be notified by noon the day of the event.
