SUMMER PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS - Part-time
In this role, the primary responsibility is delivering innovative, hands-on inquiry-based learning experiences for K-3 or 4-8 grade students at Talcott Mountain Science Center. Courses are one week in length, running from June 19 through August 11, 2023. Instruction topics may include: LEGO robotics, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, 3D design/printing, filmmaking, Earth science, space science, engineering, genetics, bioengineering, LEGO Science, meteorology, computer game making, green energy, chemistry, computer graphics, animation, marine science, rocketry, geocaching, and coding. EARTH SCIENCES INSTRUCTOR - Full-time
In this role, the primary responsibility is creating and delivering innovative, hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for K-8 students at Talcott Mountain Academy, as well as TMSC's outreach and co-curricular programs. COMPUTER SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR & IT SUPPORT ASSOCIATE - Full-time
In this role, the primary responsbility is creating and delivering innovative, hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for K-8 students at Talcott Mountain Academy, as well as TMSC's outreach and co-curricular programs. Instructional topics may include robotics, Arduino/processing, Raspberry Pi, 3D design/printing, VR/AR, and standard productivity/creativity software. Instruction will include classroom, lab, and field settings on campus and at off-site locations; occasional evenings and weekend days may be required, and the summer months are among TMSC's busiest. SECOND GRADE TEACHER - Full-time
In this role, the primary responsibility is designing and implementing engaging lessons within curriculum frameworks in all core subject areas for 2nd grade aged students. Classrooms at Talcott Mountain Academy are largely self-contained, and creativity and innovation are encouraged and supported. Class sizes typically range from 8-14 students. Emphasis on higher order thinking skills and inquiry-based learning experiences is desired. Additional responsibilities include creating a safe and respectful learning environment, communicating student progress with parents, and participating in the overall life of the school through regularly scheduled meetings and schoolwide events.
