TMSC's Summer of Science Adventures gives students in grades K-8 the chance to explore some (very) cool science, nature and technology -- all on a one-of-a-kind mountaintop campus!
Office hours are Mon - Fri, 8AM - 5PM. The Center is available by phone and eMail during those hours.
On this page: Overview, Schedule, and Busses.
Registration is via Active Network and uses a "shopping cart model" - you can register multiple students / multiple courses all in one login! Talcott Members also get $20 off each course. The registration fee is $5.95 per course, and applies whether you register online or with a mail-in form. Mail-in forms require a paper check for payment. Online registration is via credit card, debit card, or electronic check. Check out our early-bird discounts and member prices, and save! Course registration closes 11:59pm the Thursday before the week you wish to attend. Please, no walk-ins.
Courses can be found under Summer Catalog K-3 and Summer Catalog 4-8. Some new courses include: History Sleuths, Coding, Theatre & Stage Craft (a 2 week course!) and more! Contests happen weekly, (chess, structures, paper airplanes, self-propelled vehicles & more!) as well as planetarium and magic shows, and special presentations! Want to visit before your child attends? We have a tour every Thursday at 4 PM starting April 4. Please call (860) 677-8571 to sign up.
Bring a lunch and snacks and dress for the weather! Students should bring food for lunch and snack that does not need heating or refrigeration. As peanut allergies are the most common, please help by limiting the use of peanuts in lunches as much as possible. For students with allergies, we will designate a "peanut-free" and/or "nut-free" table at lunch and snack, and designate other allergies as needed.
A medical / permission form is part of the registration. No doctor is needed to complete this. We have a nurse on site during the summer program for your child's medical needs. If your child will be taking or needs medications during the hours of the program, medications must be in their original prescription packaging with prescribing information intact and a physician's authorization form (a doctor's signature is required for the medical authorization form). A Talcott staff member will collect any meds and authorization forms at the first day’s AM bus stop and return them at the last day’s PM bus stop. Please see our Forms page for these and other important documents.
Scholarships are traditionally available. Details will be added here as grants are approved.
