SCIENCE OF MAGIC / THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE Grades K - 3
ÒHow did they DO that?Ó is what you
hear at any magic show, or any great science lab. Have you ever wanted to learn some classic tricks? To figure out how they are done? WeÕll show you real levitation
(science) and some tricks that look that way (magic). YouÕll learn science that can ÒfoolÓ your friends, make
& take optical illusions, and even produce your own Òvirtual magic showÓ in
our state-of-the-art multimedia labs.
Critical thinking, creativity, and courage are encouraged and rewarded!

SPRINGTIME
WILD & CRAFTY Grades
K - 3
Discover
your creative talents, using materials found in nature. Experiment with natural
dyes. Create pictures and weavings with natureÕs colors and textures. Recycle
paper into beautiful stationery tinted by leaves and flowers. What you make is
yours to keep!

iMOVIE MADNESS Grades 4 - 8
You've seen
it everywhere - iMovie, the digital video editing program. Now you can become a
"Master Producer / Editor" and create your own masterpiece. Of course
you'll still get to use the Center's full production studios to tape the
"raw" footage. Afterward you will edit and post-produce with iMovie
and our powerful new G5 computers. So sign up and let's make movies!

SHOCKING SUNSHINE Grades
6 - 8
Switch on
to electronics. Use buzzers, bulbs, and billions of electrons to create a
variety of circuits that actually do things! Understand what it takes to make
such practical items as doorbells, electromagnets, radios and motors. Discover the exciting possibilities of
photovoltaic solar cells and hydrogen fuel cells. Work with solar cell kits and
fuel cell cars.

TOYS IN SPACE! Grades

Take an
exciting journey into how a toy really works! See and understand why a simple toy may in fact be a better
toy. Experiment with ÒToys In
SpaceÓ. Design a toy for the
future and then get a chance to use the CenterÕs state-of-the-art studio to
videotape a commercial for your new toy.

Robotics! Design a lunar rover for
our moon buggy derby using Legos controlled with Lego's Mindstorms. Create solutions to engineering
problems - we have everything you need to become a master robot builder!

WHATÕS THAT NOISE? Grades
4 - 8
How in the
world did all of those plants and animals survive the winter? For instance,
where did all of these frogs and birds come from? Do bears hibernate? Learn all
about plant and animal survival in the natural world and some of the amazing
things that plants and animals do to make it through the New England winters.

SPRINGTIME STARS Grades
6 - 8
Do you
wonder what that bright point of light is in the western sky just after dark?
Or why the Moon cycles through its phases? Join us for an ASTRONOMICAL
experience as we explore the heavens in the Captain Alan L. Bean Hypospherium.
We'll also discover how telescopes work, and be able to view sunspots, as well
as the possibility of a daytime observation of a major planet. Also use our
powerful computers to predict upcoming celestial events for the future.

SEVERE SPRING STORMS Grades 4 - 8
Did you
know that April and May are the busiest tornado months in the U.S.? Build your own tornado chamber and make
a model of a cumulonimbus "thunderhead" cloud. Observe lightning bolts firsthand in
the Meteorology Lab and experience the approach of a virtual-reality
thunderstorm inside the Captain Alan L. Bean Hypospherium. Forecast spring storms using data from
the Internet, images from our own satellite receiving station, and rainfall
patterns from our Doppler radar.
Hold on to your hats for an adventure with some of nature's wildest
weather.
